Breast & Melanoma Surgical Oncologist Amani Jambhekar, MD, Joins Bayhealth Medical Group

Bayhealth Medical Group is pleased to welcome Amani Jambhekar, MD, MBA, FACS, fellowship-trained breast surgical oncologist and Medical Director of the Bayhealth Breast & Surgical Oncology Program for the Sussex Campus. Dr. Jambhekar expands Bayhealth’s commitment to delivering comprehensive, evidence-based breast cancer and melanoma care for patients across the region.

Dr. Jambhekar specializes in the full spectrum of breast surgical oncology, offering advanced procedures such as skin sparing and nipple sparing mastectomy, oncoplastic and hidden-scar lumpectomy, sentinel lymph node biopsy and surgical and nonsurgical management of benign breast conditions. She leverages the latest technology and innovation to offer her patients the best possible outcomes, including comprehensive post-surgery pain management.

As part of the Bayhealth Cancer Institute, Dr. Jambhekar collaborates with the multidisciplinary breast cancer team in delivering genetic counseling, high-risk breast cancer evaluations for individuals with a family history and survivorship support. She is certified in cancer genetic risk assessment through the City of Hope.

Dr. Jambhekar earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and completed her general surgery residency at New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. She went on to complete fellowship training in surgical breast oncology at Columbia University Medical Center. She also holds an MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.

In addition to her breast cancer expertise, Dr. Jambhekar provides treatment for melanoma including wide local excision and innovative techniques for sentinel lymph node biopsies. She is passionate about increasing access to these services, particularly in underserved communities.

Dr. Jambhekar sees patients at Bayhealth Breast & Surgical Oncology, Sussex Campus, located at 101 Wellness Way, 3rd Floor, Milford, and performs surgeries at Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus.
