Bayhealth Heart & Vascular Institute Welcomes Cardiologist Shwetha Gopal, MD

Bayhealth Heart & Vascular Institute is pleased to welcome Shwetha Gopal, MD, to its team of cardiologists. Dr. Gopal joins a dedicated and collaborative group of clinicians caring for patients across the region at Bayhealth Cardiology, Dover.

Dr. Gopal specializes in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of heart conditions, with clinical interests in acute and chronic heart conditions, noninvasive cardiac testing and cardiovascular risk management. She is committed to delivering patient-centered care that emphasizes clear communication, education and shared decision-making.

“Dr. Gopal brings a strong commitment to delivering excellent care and a thoughtful approach to managing complex cardiovascular conditions,” said Senior Director for the Bayhealth Heart & Vascular Institute Ben Collins, MBA, BSN. “Her focus on communication, collaboration and helping patients better understand their health makes her a great addition to our cardiology team.”

Dr. Gopal completed her medical education at Davao Medical School Foundation in the Philippines and went on to complete her internal medicine residency at Rutgers Health/Saint Barnabas Medical Center in New Jersey, where she became board certified in internal medicine. Before coming to Bayhealth, she completed her cardiology fellowship at Bassett Medical Center. She is also board certified in cardiovascular disease.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Gopal has been actively involved in research and academic medicine, contributing to multiple publications and educational resources focused on cardiovascular topics.
