Bayhealth Celebrates 46 Nurse Residency Graduates

Bayhealth is celebrating the graduation of 46 nurses from its nurse residency program, marking an important milestone in their transition from nursing school to professional practice. The year-long program, accredited with distinction by the American Nurses Credentialing Center Practice Transition Accreditation Program, provides newly licensed nurses with the education, mentorship and hands-on support they need to build confidence and deliver high-quality patient care.

“Transitioning from nursing school into professional practice is an exciting time, but it also comes with new challenges and responsibilities,” said Nurse Residency Specialist Erica McPhail, MSN, RN, APRN. “Our residency program gives new nurses the support, resources and experiences they need to grow into confident practitioners while becoming an integral part of the Bayhealth team. We’re proud to celebrate their accomplishments and look forward to seeing the impact they will make on our patients, colleagues and communities.”

Designed for registered nurses, the nurse residency program offers comprehensive training, mentorship and hands-on learning with the Bayhealth Magnet nursing team throughout several units. Eligible new hires are automatically enrolled and receive one-on-one orientation with a registered nurse preceptor, monthly educational sessions and ongoing mentorship. Nursing residents participate in simulation training at Bayhealth’s Simulation Center and meet regularly with nursing professional development practitioners and residency specialists to support their goals. Participants continue in a mentorship program during the first year to foster long-term success.
